hi there

i wish to add some additional file types to gedit that it doesnt currently pick up..I can right click a file and open with gedit but i need to map the new file ext to a specific file type..

for example... I wish for gedit to open .phtml files and render the content the same as it would a PHP file..

any ideas?

thanks all :)

In Nautilus, right-click on one of those files that you want gedit to open.
In the context menu that pops up, click on "Properties".
Click on the "Open with" tab.
If gedit is available in the list of applications from which to choose, then select it.
If it is not in the list, then try to add it to the list with the "Add" button at the bottom. It should make gedit open the file with a double-click in the file browser now provided gedit is capable of opening the file in the first place. I guess that's what you meant. Maybe not.

BTW gedit will be called text editor in that "Open with" tab.

Enjoy the Choice ;)
