I have a TwinView setup (Primary 1680x1050 and a 1280x1024 on the right). I have two gnome-panels on each monitor.

When I maximize something on the primary monitor, everything is fine. But when I maximize something on the secondary monitor, the window maximizes under the gnome-panel and it's very annoying. As you can see the status bar of firefox on the screenshot is under the gnome-panel on the right.

The last OS I had here was FC7 with a old compiz-fusion and I didn't have this problem. I tried adding new gnome-panel, moving the gnome-panel but still same problem.

When I select the window manager to be "Metacity" from the compiz-fusion, the problem is still there.

Thanks for your help.

After scouring for a while through bugzilla I finally found a partial solution.

If you align the two screens (so the Y offset is +0), the problem goes away, but if you have the second screen on any different Y offset, the problem comes back. Not the ideal solution if you have the two monitors positioned physically off, but it's better than having the windows maximize under the gnome-panel.
