Hi,

I have a Fedora 8 installed on a DELL SC440 with 4 SATA disks.

I have on the first two disks with 4 partitions (root, swap, R1 and R2) and the whole second pair of disks have only one partition (R3).

All the partition is RAID1 with MDADM.

Today my boot fails for corrupted file systems, since he cannot check R3.. in fact the appropriate device (/dev/md4) is missing.

If I perform a fdisk on the two physical disks (/dev/sdc and /dev/sdd) and the partition table is ok.

Why fedora fails to create the appropriate metadevice?

It's the second time this happens... The first time I remove phisically the disks (for md4) and fedora restart. After few day I have changed the machine and put a CentOS 5.2 on it.

This is the second time the MD4 fails... is it fedora fault?

Ok,

I solved this issue typing "mdadm -Es > /etc/mdadm.conf" and booting again.

Thanks to all.
