I am building my own kernel in Fedora 9 and can now successfully boot the system. Unfortunately, I cannot remove one error message during boot-up. It occurs before the root file system is mounted, and thus believe it is caused by the kernel itself. The error
message is as follows:

end_request: I/O error, dev fd0 sector 0

I see it a few times during bootup. What can be causing this problem? I have even gone as far as disabling the floppy drive itself, but it is not helping.I'll work on getting all of the dmesg output posted momentarily.

Actually, looking at the boot screen again, removing the floppy driver did remove this error! Woohoo! :D
