Hi all

My shiny Dell vostro 410 works sweet with everything in Fedora core 9 except sound. Sound is one of 2 remaining bug bears I have with having Fedora on my Business PC. Other than that nearly everything else is sweet.

Any ideas on where to get a driver for this or get it working - see my signature for hardware profile

cheers

Tyrone

I found sound to be a problem with Fedora. First thing I check is the Mixer to confirm nothing is muted and volumes are set at a realistic level. There may be more than one volume control too. On my F10 Xfce system there is a volume control in Multimedia and also in Settings. Both needed to be set for sound to work.

There is a bug in the latest (2.6.27.9) kernels in both F9 and F10 that causes sound problems. Try an older kernel.

You can take a look at http://home.roadrunner.com/~computertaijutsu/rhsound.html to see if any of the suggestions there help. With Fedora, it's sometimes difficult to tell if it's a sound problem caused by the driver or by pulseaudio.
