View Full Version : error mounting device hda5 as video: mount: - Upgrading from Fedora 6 to 10

I'm getting the following error when trying to upgrade from old Fedora 6 to Fedora 10 soon after starting the installation program from CD:

error mounting device hda5 as video: mount:
special device /dev/hda5 does not exist

Press OK TO EXIT THE INSTALLER

Didn't have much look looking at the other posts. I had problems in the past with the /video folder. Believe I had it as a LVM and changed it to an EXT3.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

as a recall f6 used the old naming system "/dev/hda5" fedora 8,9,10,... use /dev/sda5 ( sd not hd)

try reformatting the rive ( ext 3 or ext4 ) then do a fresh install for 10 .there has been TOO many changes to upgrade from 6 to 10 .
