Upon boot, when starting udev, I get:

udevd-event run_program: '/sbin/alsactl' abnormal exit

I cannot get any sound. I can output to PulseAudio without errors, but there is no sound. Same for outputting to ALSA device hw:FM801AU (the soundcard I use).

How can I find out why alsactl is exiting abnormally?

EDIT: "yum reinstall *alsa* *udev*" got rid of the error on boot. I uninstalled alsa-plugins-pulseaudio
(and restarted) and tried playing WAV files with asound. No errors messages are displayed, there is just no sound. Every adjustable slider in alsamixer is unmuted and turned up all the way. I can hear a little pop-ish sound when I mute/unmute the Surround slider. I have tried booting into older kernels.

"IEC958 Raw Data" was unmuted in KMix. Muting it fixed the problem.
