View Full Version : lost /dev/snd permissions on diskless client

I'm really struggling to get sound working on my diskless Mythdora client...

I set up a working Mythdora client (with HD) with sound working just fine.
I then put the files on to the backend server, removed the client's HD and am now booting the same client diskless.
All seems to be working except that I've lost my ACL permissions on the various devices under /dev/snd.
(/dev/ is generated dynamically during boot and is not part of the 'root' or 'snapshot' directories on the backend.)

If I 'getfacl /dev/snd/controlc0' the only user is root. This is the problem. I can add user 'mythtv' using setfacl and all is good again. i get sound when logging in as 'mythtv'.

What is the root of this problem? How do I add the 'mythtv' user to the ACL user list and why was this not required when booting from a local HD? I guess it must be a file which is read-only and should be writable ? But which file?

Please help..i've been on this for 3 days solid so far.

TIA, Kingrolo.
