I'm a "newbie" who has registered with RHN (apparently successfully i think) but now when i check for updates the err msgs says that no channels (software ?) have been specified. This may be true since RH doesn't offer any for Fedora (only fee-based prods are shown).

Also tried yum (for the first time) but got an err msg abt "headers" needing attn by sys admin.

What am i doing wrong ? Thanx

Red Hat Network is a service for Red Hat Linux, which is dead. up2date will now use yum repositories or you can use yum. I advice you to use yum.

For a quick introduction and a good premade configuration file for yum, see the unofficial fedora f.a.q: http://www.fedorafaq.org/#installsoftware

Basicly, yum update will update everything. Yum install will install new software and yum remove will remove packages.

If you want to read up on packages and yum and all that, have a look at my rather lengthy how-to: http://foolish.fedorausers.org/rpm/index.html

Did you run the yum/up2date as root?
