now every time I boot my system, the kmixer is set to mute. I've looked at past messages that say you need to adjust your volume in one of the mixers. I believe I tried all the mixer (alsamixer, gnome-alsamixer, kmix) and none save the unmuted settings...they just play sound fine till I shutdown or reboot. How do I save unmuted mixer settings?
:confused:

this is how my /etc/modprobe.conf saves my sound settings
alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
install snd-intel8x0 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-intel8x0 && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
remove snd-intel8x0 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-intel8x0
Note: to use this example you will need to make sure to changes the "intel8x0" to the name of your sound card.
