I'm having a bit of a problem after a program crashed and I rebooted (fedora core 2, gnome). the bottom bar that shows th user which programs are running and allows the user to switch from one program to another is empty.

I have the 'start menu' all my application launchers, then the button that allows you to swithc between 4 desktops is missing and the program area is empty no matter how many programs I have open.

I can still alt-tab between programs but I'd like to solve this issue nonetheless.
thanks

On Gnome :
For the "program area" :
Right-click on your panel, then Add to Panel > Utility > Window List.
For the "button that allows you to swithc between 4 desktops" :
Right-click on your panel, then Add to Panel > Utility > Workspace Switcher

for the workspaces, isnt it actually called "pager"?...I may be thinking about KDE ...anyway right clicking on panel will allow you to add the things you lost...as well as many others...
