HI, i am brand new to linux, so far making fairly decent progress on getting things setup. Last night I was screwing around and somehow lost my system tray (like windows. My clock is there, but no icons next to it. I only had the "check mark" in there from updates, but it is now gone. Allso when I minimize things like XMMS it diappears but still works which i believe it is going to tray.

I right clicked down by the clock to add it, but didnt see anything there that it may be. any suggestions would help. thanks!

Hello,

I think you meant "Notification Area" when you say "System Tray" right?

You can bring back "Notification Area" by going to:

Right click on somewhere next to clock > Add to Panel > Utility > Notification Area

yeah... not quite used to these linux terms yet, so I used windows(iiick) terms. but that definately helps, atleast i know what it is called now.

Here's a quick summary of what the different things are called in gnome, uses the default gnome 2.6 setup and not the Fedora Core setup, but it's still ok:
