Hey guys

I am having a really weird problem with yum. It has been a while since I have done updates on my Fedora 8 installation as I haven't had a chance to have a wired connection to download the HUGE amount of updates I have to get. I finally found the time to go wired and now when I try to run yum update I run into a weird problem. I receive the following error:

removing mirrorlist with no valid mirrors: //var/cache/yum/fedora/mirrorlist.txt
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again

I have looked through the forums and found several posts regarding this error however I still have no been able to find a fix that fixes mine.

Here is my fedora.repo file:

Hey..

Sorry its taken me so long to get back to this post. I just wanted to thank you for your post. I followed the guide and it worked perfectly. I later decided to update to fedora nine because once I did the updates half of the things on my computers stopped working.

All is well though and I am now running fedora 9.

Thank you again for your help
