I told y'all I'd been dinking around with Linux a long time... That registration was done via e-mail (the Web was in it's infancy) over a 1200-baud modem. Downloading Slackware took days and compiling a kernel (pre-modules, so you practically had to compile to get a fully working system) took about 16 hours.

Setting up systems these days is a cake-walk! ;)

I am now proud linux user #370605

I marked the start month Sep 2004, because in spring (in summer I was away from my computer) I was just learning to use FC1 and mostly I used Windows not Linux. If to be more exact then I started to use only Linux on 9. Sep. 2004 (in the evening). It is exact day, not a day before or after. I am going to celebrate that every year. :p

All who haven't registered yet please take some time and do it! Let's spread the word! :)

Nothing. The problem with Linux is that you can never be sure how many Linux machines there are. The other companys can just see their sale statistics, but for Linux there is non. So for interest and also for Linux advocating it is important to know how much Linux machines there are.

imdeemvp

Yes I agree. I have 4 pc's and 3 I built and 1 came with xp....so there is no count for our linux machines by other than ourselves.
