Hi to all.
I was using Fedora GNU/Linux Core2, since 10 days.I came from Redhat 7.3 and Slackware 8.1 distros.
I must say that Fedora is a good linux. It's GNU linux. Has more eye candy and fresh software opensource.

I have a problem with CPU usage and mem usage.
Now i running this applications:gkrellm, MozillaFirefox (with 2 tabs), one aterm running *****X client, firestarter (the firewall) and Xmms for sound. All is running on X.org (with fluxbox development version 0.9.9).

I get this:

root 2280 11.5 27.0 99544 69584 ? S 11:44 50:32 X :0

Mem: 257108 254188 2920 0 19948 97436
-/+ buffers/cache: 136804 120304
Swap: 523992 57920 466072

gkrellm sign me: 251 mem usage and so strong cpu krellm usage. it's so bad. system is overloaded.

X.org is too charged and get too cpu usage. It's normal with PC pIII ,450mhz , 250memory ram?

Thanks for support. And sorry for my english.

X using a lot of memory is pretty normal, I would say. However, it also is normal for most of your memory to be used (http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18342). After all, why have it if you don't use it?

You are about at the minimum recommended requirements for graphics. Any less can be done but is not usable. How fast does your machine feel?

A good indication of how much your system is being used is the load index. Run
uptime and the last numbers are the load average. Lower is better.
