I seem to have caught you on line. I read your comments to lanrat about xscreensaver. His problem was close to mine, but I'm not sure.

I just installed Fedora 9, which in turn installed gnome-screensaver. Subsequent to install, I installed the four or five xscreensaver packages. When I activate xscreensaver, it asks me to turn off the gnome-screensaver demon and turn on the xscreensaver demon. But if I reboot, the gnome demon is running again, and xscreensaver is not running. How can I make the change to xscreensaver survive a reboot? I looked for the gnome demon in system-->administration-->services to stop it but couldn't find it. However, ps -e shows that it's running.

Thanks.

Bill

you might run

yum remove gnome-screensaver
then install all of the xscreensaver rpm's ( 7 of them )
