I took a CD and ripped it using Windows Media Player (In WinXP) and got all my tracks in WMA format. From there I converted them to MP3, put them on my external hard drive, connect the drive to my laptop, and tranfered the songs to my music folder. I opened them up in XMMS but got a message saying that Red Hat disabled MP3 playback for XMMS. Is there a way to get around that? Or what other formats can I use?

Install the xmms-mp3 plugin from a 3rd-party repo such as Livna. Then disable the "dummy" Fedora place-holder plugin and enable the real one.

So something such as the DVD-Playback (I think that's the name) option in Dangermouse's script?

Everything you need and maybe more! Or if you want to do it manually, look at the last link.
