View Full Version : Update stopped working?

I'm running FC8 and every week or so the update feature alerts me to new updates, I apply them, and all goes well. A few days ago, however, I applied them, and X wouldn't start because the nvidia module wasn't ready. No biggie -- the livna nvidia modules take a bit of time. However, a week later, it seems that my update feature is no longer working. I've gotten a message saying updates are not enabled, and when I try to do it manually it says it can't find the Fedora repo.

Is anyone else having this issue? If not, what might I do to reset things and get the updates working again?

What do you get if you try yum check-update from a command line?

I think here's the answer. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=196822

I have no updates on F8 and F9 for about 10 hours. Perhaps it would be one of those moments to issue a forum-wide announcement, since it might get ugly if every second poster would open a thread complaining about missing mirorrs/updates. :)

In my case, back when Fedora7 or was it 8, the yum_updatesd service was broken so long, didn't realized I got no updates...
I no longer use yum_updatesd or PackageKit service since. I use my own yum script in cron.daily, listed in my sig.

There's now a sticky in announcements so you can check for updates right after logging in. :)

We're locking most of these threads now as they're covered at
