View Full Version : NetworkManager hogging CPU

After a recent upgrade on my laptop (ie yum update). I have found that the Network manager hogs the cpu. If I kill the process then the hogging is fixed.

I have a pretty much vanilla install with the planetccrma repos

Hardware Acer travelmate 2.00 GHz. FC8

Strange unless your interfaces are changing state rapidly.

if you (as root) do
strace -p `pgrep NetworkManager`
you'll see all the syscalls by NM as they occur. That may give you a hint but ....
Maybe something wrong with youe haldaemon process or acpi settings ?

I did a reboot and the problem stilloccurred. I found that if I killed and restarted the NetworkManager (both as su) everything is OK.

However, this is a work around, not a fix!

I will try the strace when I next have the issue.
