Hello
My notebook is a HP Pavilion dv7-1018eg and I am using Fedora 9
My wireless network doesn't work:
I get these messages during the boot process:

Aug 11 19:19:16 localhost kernel: iwl4965: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN driver for Linux, 1.3.27kds
Aug 11 19:19:16 localhost kernel: iwl4965: Copyright(c) 2003-2008 Intel Corporation

Aug 11 19:19:16 localhost kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:02:00.0 disabled

The first strange thing is this line: "Detected Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100AGN"
My network card is a 4965AGN and not a 5100AGN

Ifconfig and iwconfig report this:

[root@localhost ~]# ifconfig wlan0

When I try to do a ifup I get these errors in my /var/log/messages:

In /lib/firmware is a iwlwifi-4965-1.ucode, but i don't find iwlwifi-5000-1.ucode so I installed iwl5000-firmware-5.4.A.11-2.noarch.rpm

But my problem wasn't solved. Now /var/log/messages reports this:

Somebody asked me if I found a solution for this so I just post it here:

Hello,

Yes.
The firmware loading worked only on a 32bit kernel.
I reported this issue to Intel and they fixed it, but the patch is only available in the latest release canditate of Linus' kernel tree.

So there are 2 solutions:
- 1) Downgrade to 32bit
- 2) or use kernel 2.6.27-rc6 (if you use yum and the rawhide repository this fedora kernel depends also on plymouth; and i couldn't manage to build the binary driver from nvidia)

Hello!

I have the same problem with my Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100. (see your post http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=196563)

Do you have find the soluce for this ??

Thank for your help et sorry for my bad english ;o)
