View Full Version : DVI + X = no work

My CRT died just recently, so I bought new LCD with DVI input, but..... DVI output doesn't work in X. Console mode works ok. I've tried with nv, nouveau, and drivers from livna.org (Leadtek 6600gt AGP). Monitor turns off in X with nvidia driver, and blurred lines on vc7 is all i get with first two drivers. Tried to update system and everything stayed the same. D-SUB works OK, but that's not it.

Help, anyone?

Usually the easiest way out of these xorg problems is just to rename you xorg.conf to xorg.old (or whatever) and reboot. Usually when Xorg starts from scratch it is smart enough to configure it properly (it will need to be hooked to dvi when you do this).

Post your xorg.conf.

An update: Tried Mandriva live CD - everything ok. Fedora live cd 8 & 9 - no good. Quickly installed Archlinux onto spare partition - works like charm. Tried with my old gf4Ti - same thing. Seems to me like Fedora bug ???

P.S. Even in Win.... it works fine

It's probably the "new" xorg in F9. I have a similar problem with an older legacy ATI card. The driver is unable to see the DVI port but Vesa works, albeit slowly and painfully...
