Is LD_ASSUME_KERNEL variable still useful for kernel 2.6? I read some articles about this variable. It seems that it is related with Linux Thread and NPTL. I don't know too much about them. If my system is higher then kernel 2.6, do I need to use this variable?

i believe i still have to use it for a very old piece of software i use that wants a 2.4 kernel but in all honesty I haven't used that piece of software in so long i can't remember. I should really uninstall it i guess.
