Use the mjmwired guide DIES provided you in the other thread. Please to follow his direction, start at the top and work down skipping only those sections you do not need. You must enable sudo and you use yum in Fedora, not apt-get. You will need to enable the Livna repo for your non-free codecs. They are all available and easily installed.

Just follow the directions. Read carefully! You can copy the commands out of the mjmwired page and paste in your terminal, this will cut down on errors.

Good luck! :)

Hi and welcome!

First, you can post more questions in one thread, and collect the answers there, instead of opening a lot of threads.

I guess somebody already recommended to you this guide:
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f9.html

Edit: yes, I was slower...

As it is already stated there, Fedora doesn't include mp3 and other, proprietary stuff. You should add the Livna repo, and install things from there (xmms, xmms-mp3, rhythmbox, gstreamer-plugins-ugly). For vids, I use mplayer. But follow the guide, it helped me too to start with FC6 (good ol' times...).

Hi

I have set up yum and install codec required as yum install libmpcdec.x86.64 and still I am unable to listen mp3 songs. If I again tries to install this codec, this happens:

what player are you using?
if rhythmbox (or anything else based on gstreamer), you'll need to

yum install gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly
if amarok you'll need to

yum install amarok-extras-nonfree

p.s. your supposed to write

yum install libmpcdec.x86_64
(although the x86_64 is not necessary)

I want to install codec for Amarok. When i install
yum install amarok-extras-nonfree
I got error as:

Error: Missing Dependency: xine-lib(plugin-abi) = 1.24 is needed by package xine-lib-extras-nonfree-1.1.15-1.lvn9.x86_64 (livna)

Now what to do?

there seems to be a problem with your repositories
you can probably find the solution in one of these threads:
