Not new to UNIX ... been using various flavours for over 10 years ... just been given a fedora 7.0 version and perplexed at why I can no longer use Tiny Term to login using the TT automatic login script :

Tiny Term issues a ^W^U^M when it sees a "ogin:" and ^W^P^M when it sees a "assword:"

The screen looks like (halts waiting for a password):
----------------------------------------------------
TinyTERM Terminal Emulator v4.20.1306

^SFedora release 7 (Moonshine)
Kernel 2.6.23.15-80.fc7 on an i686
login:
Password:
-----------------------------------------------------
Entering the password returns
Login incorrect

It appears like nothing was sent out after the login: prompt

Is there something that needs to be setup on Fedora to allow this to work? I use TT to connect to 3 other Unix systems and have never had any issue connecting using this login method.

Prior to network connections we used to be able to trap the traffic with protocol analyzers attached to the RS232 cables ... not sure if there is anyway to do that with some soft tool or not to help determine where the issue is.

You are on the wrong bits, you can select 8n1 byte or 7 byte, you can even select even or odd parity.
I use WRQ's Reflection to get on UNIX and Fedora boxes with no issues.

Can you get on a Windows box, start DOS Prompt, and telnet in to that Fedora box, does it looks funny there as well?

no sorry should have mentioned that I can manually login using telnet both from a Dos prompt session and or Tiny Term with no problem ... it is just the TT auto login that appears to be broken

New info:

I loaded a copy of Ethereal and Captured the conversation between TT and Fedora:

It would appear that Fedora is mangling the login sequence by not allowing the entry of a USERNAME
