View Full Version : Swap partition problem

When I boot up FC9, I get

Enabling /etc/fstab swaps [Failed]

Possibly as a result of this, sometimes when I do things which are hard drive intensive, my computer hangs for a bit then resumes.

The /etc/fstab entries relating to swap are:

UUID=ba843675-1e64-4239-a9a1-6cac873cee72 swap swap defaults 0 0
LABEL=SWAP-sda8 swap swap defaults 0 0

How can I fix this so that the swap partition gets mounted properly on boot?

Thanks for any info!

For the record, removing the first line quoted above solves the problem.

you have one swap partition?
if yes, then just remove the 1st line as in this case both lines just point to the same partition and it is obvious if it mounted once it can't be mounted twice :)

if you have 2 swap partitions then I would suggest to use their dev filenames like /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 or whatever they are on your system
