Hi,

I have installed the FC8, and created the one user. By this user login I am not able use command Ping, ifconfig etc.
If I ping to to google.com it says Unknown Host, but if I ping by sudo I am able to ping to the domain.
In the case of ifconfig command, it says command not found, but if I used /sbin/ifconfig it shows my IP address and other details.

I am not able to figure it out what exactly access need to be add for this user?

Regards,
Yogesh

I have configured the mail account in Thunderbird. If I open the thunderbird it says the Host not found, but if I open like "sudo /usr/bin/thunderbird" its start downloading the mails.

Read permissions for /etc/resolv.conf might be the problem:

Try:

sudo chmod a+r /etc/resolv.conf

I don't know about the ping issue, but for the ifconfig one, you've to add /sbin to your $PATH environment variable. In you ~/.bashrc or ~/.bash_profile(I don't recall which one exactly), append the line

PATH=$PATH:/sbin
This should do the trick for ifconfig(and a lot of other tools).
