View Full Version : Kernel panics on shut down - ndiswrapper

27th July 2008, 03:00 PM
I wasn't sure which forum to post this in; software, networking or hardware are all arguably appropriate.

Basically, I installed ndiswrapper which, after a lot of tinkering, seems to work fine. Everything loads just fine, and modprobing it doesn't cause any problems. However, every time I shut down, I get a kernel panic. I assume that the kernel has trouble unloading the ndiswrapper module. Is there a way of preventing this? I've read that I can add 'ifconfig wlan0 down' to a shut down script but I'm not quite sure which script this should be put into and/or where the script should be put (I assume it would be in /etc/rc.d/rc6.d but I'm not sure).

Any help is much appreciated.
