I did a

mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda3

to create the filesystem in the extended partion (/dev/sda3)

but got this message:

mkfs.ext3:inode_size (128) * inodes_count(0) too big for filesystem with 0 blocks, specify higher inode_ratio (-i) or lower inode_count (-N)

any ideas how to make it work ?

thanks

Could you show the output of 'fdisk -l /dev/sda' ? I see on google there are occasional issues like this on extended partitions.
