Is there a way to configure yum to download from multiple servers simultaneously? It would be a great time saver for broadband users.

I don't see how - my local mirror uses my full bandwidth on broadband.

Just use a fast mirror and your bandwidth will limit you.

this is the advantage of apt
yum does a better job solving the dependencies in my opinion, so this is why i use it

Yum is a sequential bunch of Python scripts. Check out /usr/share/yum/clientStuff.py. The download code is a big ol' for loop.

When I feel like this sequential download headers, download rpms, check, install process gets too long, I use apt.
