View Full Version : Mp3, Mp4, Ipod, itunes what player?

I'm very new in this game so i hope somebody
could help me find a good replacer for iTunes.
I have alot of songs that i have bought in itunes store
but they won't play in banshee or amarok.
Alot of cd's that i have converted to itunes won't play either.
Any suggestions?
I have an ipod to that i would like to work on fedora is that
possible?

What version iPod do you have? Unfortunately the more recent generation don't work very well on Linux because Apple implemented some tricks (encypted firmware, etc).

Either way, I've found rhythmbox to be a very nice media player if you enable the lyrics and album art plugins from the preferences. You can use gtkpod you sync your iPod in Linux.

Oh, that's the new generation :(

The gtkpod website says it supports it now, I'm not sure to what extent though. Last I read, you had to run a few commands before syncing it each time to decrypt the iTunes database, but this may have changed. It's worth a try at least:

yum install gtkpod
And then run gtkpod from the menu.
