View Full Version : A quick RPM/kernel issue...

Hi all!

I compiled a custom kernel to an RPM as per the tutorial on this site. I installed it using :

rpm -ivh [mykernelhere].rpm

It booted fine with the new kernel, but I forgot to add a couple of options which I needed so I reverted to the old kernel to uninstall the new one and compile again. To my surprise tho, upon trying to uninstall the old kernel using...

rpm -e [mykernelhere].rpm

...I got confronted with the message :

error: package [mykernelhere].rpm is not installed.

Although I know for a fact that it's installed, since I just booted with it! I can't seem to install a new one now since it says the modules conflict with the old ones!

Any idea how to eradicate this kernel and start afresh?

Cheers, Phil.

rpm -e [yourkernelhere] without rpm

you can see the exact name with
rpm -qa | grep kernel
