well for a list of all the "software installed in the machine"
run this command

su -
( your password when asked )
yum list installed > ~/yumlist.txt
-- or --
rpm -qa > ~/rpmlist.txt

run "rpm --help "or "yum --help" for more info
and if you want the .txt can be left off
for hardware , i don't know all of them off hand
but if it is connected using pci

lspci -v
-- or --
lspci --help for more info
--------- for usb -------
lsusb -v

for a list of environment variables

printenv
-- or --
printenv > printenv.txt

For software, John has you set up - use rpm -qa or yum list installed. As for hardware info, I like the hardinfo program. I think it's in the Fedora repositories, but I'm not at a Fedora box right now so I can't be sure. It also does benchmarking.

Try

su -
yum install hardinfo
