When I installed FC9 on my x64 system, the first boot after installing from CD allowed me to configure the system.

On my second install (386) I had to power down the PC after the CD installation, thinking the next time I power it on, I'll do the 1st time config stuff.... Well, nope. I boot and it boots right to X windows with no users and no config.

How do I get this thing to run that initial configuration sequence?

It looks to me like maybe python is required? I may not have chosen that on install.

Nope. Complete reinstall. It still fails. Pyhon libraries not found when the script runs on bootup and from su mode shell. I cant even run yum.

Anyone?

Believe it or not - even with things checked for install python-libs was not installed. I got the rpm on a floppy and installed it in single user mode and rebooted - tada....

Very odd.
