I have a test system with F8, on which I installed F9 as a new instal (not an upgrade). The partitioning screen forced me to use Device Mapper devices. Is it no longer possible to use disks without Device Mapper, or did I miss an option or checkbox during the install process?

Hello:
Not exactly sure what you mean, but are you referring to your individual drives not being seen ?
If so, try starting the installation with

linux nodmraid

I figured it out. F9 was installed over an F8 system that had been configured with LVM RAID 1 on two identical hard drives. The F9 installer detected this as a SNIA DDF1 RAID volume and used it automatically. Interesting.

I was confused because on F8 device-mapper was not used and I could see the /dev/sd[ab] devices. Now that I understand what happened I'm OK with it and don't need to reinstall.
