Fedora 9. I am the only user and should have administrative authority.... Latest updates installed. Galleon and dillo work fine. This is written from Galleon.

Firefox (FF) that came with 9 is version 3 beta 5.

FF works in root , but

Not from ~/bob, When conventionally started from -->Applications-->Internet. I get this error:

Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.
No session of FF has been started and have rebooted several times.

Because it works in root, the error must be the result of permissions of support files etc...I don't know....

What should I do so I can run FF from ~/bob?

Firefox runs in terminal as root. I get this message in the terminal window:

(firefox:8290): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
But it does not run when either from Application-->Internet-->firefox OR from /bob I type firefox, I get this error message in it's own window:

Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing firefox process, or restart your system.
It is not running and of course reboot doesn't change things either.

What do I do?
