View Full Version : F8 latest & loading firewire

Trying valiantly to get firewire and a cable box to work with my Myth system and getting nowhere.

A few months ago I made an effort and got it all to work except when actually trying to make it work - which would fail. Found some reported bugs with the Texas Instruments TSB82AA2 chipset so I just booted back to FC6 and gave up on the premium channels for a while.

Attacked it again yesterday, ran all the F8 updates and it seemed to totally screw it.

So I did a fresh F8 install and full update. Then followed the instructions again.
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/FireWire

Seems something has changed in the way we load drivers...that or my inexperience with linux is making me miss something.

All should be installed, but when I edit modprobe.conf and add these to it
dv1394
raw1394
ohci1394
ieee1394

all I get is errors when I reboot. I tried putting 'install ' front of them, but that did nothing better.

Am I putting these in the wrong file? is there some syntax that's changed with the latest kernel?

Yes, I did blacklist per these instructions

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this loaded? I'm getting zero elsewhere so hopefully this is a generic enough question that I don't have to await someone in the myth community to figure it out.

Thanks in advance.
