I've been looking up and down for a solution to a problem of mine here - I have a fancy quickcam webcam (That for the life of me I don't know the model name - but lsusb and v4l-tools does, thank goodness) And it suggested uvcvideo as a driver fit for me. I'm not all-to-sure I got the setup done right the first time around to begin with, but hopefully someone here knows what is going on in this.

For the life of me I can't tell if it's an issue with my sound, an issue with the driver, or an issue with the webcam. I do however know that the webcam has a built in mic, if that has anything to do with it, and I did modprobe uvcvideo before attempting to get any result. (This whole thing was an expiditon of unplugging the camera and plugging it back in again switching from port to port; I may have started cheese a few times in there.)
If I installed it wrong, does anyone know how to do it right?

What software did you try on it ? How about Skype (2.0.0.68) ?

I've tried skype too, once before it worked a little but didn't pick up images, before I had to reinstall F8. After I rebooted it didn't detect the device anymore. I tried it again and still not picking up.
