View Full Version : GRUB blank screen

I recently deleted my Fedora Core 8 partition (via the Vista disk manager) and when I rebooted all I got was a black blank screen with GRUB in the top right corner, and a blinking cursor unresponsive to any keystrokes.

Specs: Compaq Presario F755US
MS Vista Home Premium
AMD Turion X2 3800+
2 GiB RAM
1 149.5 GiB partition (according to Vista)

P.S. For those who want to know, the reason I was removing the Fedora Partition was because the wireless card driver I need (MadWifi) is apparently only compatible with the standard x86 version and not the x86_64 version I had.

Use the Vista installation disk to access "Repair Mode" then issue

Bootrec /fixboot
Bootrec /fixmbr

from a command prompt. Then look into EasyBCD (http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1) to avoid this in the future.

P.S. If you are re-installing Fedora why bother?

thanks.

btw that is true, but I was going to to reinstall it until I saw that fc9 was coming out soon, and by then it was too late.
