Try avidemux or cinelerra, both available from FreshRPMs for Fedora.
FreshRPMs: http://freshrpms.net/
Cinelerra: http://heroinewarrior.com/index.php3
Avidemux: http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/

I use Livna repository and there is avidemux too and instead of cinelerra is kino there. But kino is not stable on my 64bit system :( Avidemux is useful only for simple video editing of AVI files.

If you want to prepare some sound/music for your videos, audacity will be useful for you.

Personally, I like kino. It is simple and does what I need. It seems stable on my 32 bit system... not sure if your problem is 64 bit.
