View Full Version : Issue with Compiz

Hi Followed the instructions for installing compiz, and the desktop effects in "desktop effects" work, ie the cube and the wobbly windows. But when i try to customize further using the compiz config settings manager they have no effect. There is no error message or crash, it simply does nothing, even after restarting the computer!

Wasn't sure which topic to put this in, so i put it in general.

I am using FC8, x64, on a HP pavilion DV6000 laptop. Not sure what else to post...

My xorg.conf:

Try installing compiz-fusion



1. Install compiz-fusion


for both kde & gnome


su
yum install ccsm emerald-themes compizconfig-backend-kconfig compizconfig-backend-gconf fusion-icon* emerald compiz-fusion compiz-fusion-gnome libcompizconfig compiz-gnome compiz-bcop compiz compizconfig-python compiz-fusion-extras compiz-fusion-extras-gnome compiz-kde

for gnome only ( no kde deps are installed )


su
yum install ccsm emerald-themes compizconfig-backend-gconf fusion-icon-gtk emerald compiz-fusion compiz-fusion-gnome libcompizconfig compiz-gnome compiz-bcop compiz compizconfig-python compiz-fusion-extras compiz-fusion-extras-gnome


for kde only


su
yum install ccsm emerald-themes compizconfig-backend-kconfig fusion-icon-qt emerald compiz-fusion libcompizconfig compiz-bcop compiz compizconfig-python compiz-fusion-extras compiz-kde


2. To start compiz-fusion use fusion-icon , you will find fusion-icon in the menu under Applications/system tools/fusion-icon. ( gnome only )


3. edit xorg.conf to this

It was one of those that wasn't installed, compizconfig-backend-kconfig i think..
