View Full Version : Level 3 iptables problem

So I have been working on getting a server up and running for remote development via ssh and using ftp. I got everyhting going good, and the computer boots to level 3. however, herein lies the problem. NetworkManager doesnt run on level3, so I have the service network set to handle that. No problem. sshd and the ftp services are running. The problem lies within the iptables service. I have it setup to start upon boot (and I just verified that it does, indeed start on boot). But, after boot, I cannot ftp or ssh into the machine. If I login via command line as root, then manually restart iptables: '/sbin/service iptables restart'.. I can then proceed to ftp and ssh.

I also just checked: the boot iptables configuration is different than when I restart the service. Why is this, and how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

And the problem: firestarter service was starting as well. I disabled that, and it seems I am all set now.

Moral of the story: get some sleep, you'll think clearer ;)
