I was a happy camper and all was good with Fedora 7. I backed up my files and took a "leap of faith" and installed Fedora 8. All went well during the installation process. Then the mandatory reboot and all of a sudden, the faithful keyboard was silent. No amount of coaxing would make the keyboard function again. Funny thing is that the keyboard works like a champ when I put in a Fedora 7 Live CD and reboot. It is as if the Fedora 8 install process forgot to add a keyboard driver for the generic jelly-bean commodity keyboard. Humm.... Any suggestions as to how to fix this situation?

Problem solved: two fold - kernel needed updating; rebooted with install DVD and chose rescue mode; then did a "chroot /mnt/sysimage" and invoked yum.... Secondly, the selinux config was lacking the normal login user; logged in as root and added the normal login user to the permitted users list.
