What's wrong in fc8 with the Xmodmap files ??

I have an .Xmodmap file in my home folder. In each boot the special keys I have defined there, work fine for some time. After some time they stop functioning !! Even a periodic execution of
xmodmap .Xmodmap doesn't make them function again.

The same keys I defined them in the file /etc/X11/Xmodmap but it doesn't seem to work.

Do you have any ideas ?

I have a similar problem but only under Gnome. If I use WindowMaker it doesn’t happen. Maybe you should try another Windowmanager, to find out, if we both have the same problem.

I have installed only KDE. When I find some time I'll try it and I'll note back.

Thanks for your reply.

I just found the reason why it is happening. I use change keyboard layout. Each time I change to Greek the special keys I have defined they get disabled. Do you change keyboard layouts ?

And I just solved it. The problem was that in kCOntrol in the keyboard layout tab I had to choose the proper keyboard model.
