HI all,

I've just upgraded to FC8 from FC7 by starting fresh with a new install on a new hd. I would like to now access my old hard drive to get some files over to my new hard drive. My old hd has 2 partitions on it:

/dev/sdd1 * 1 13 104391 83 Linux
/dev/sdd2 14 12161 97578810 8e Linux LVM

For the life of me I can't get at the files on /dev/sdd2. When I type vgdisplay, I get this:

WARNING: Duplicate VG name VolGroup00: Existing balPyv-IhIG-v25H-ifbn-GfRI-9HvS-WpqWXj (created here) takes precedence over lK0gIz-mS5Y-sb2T-NRt2-ZOlh-jilt-ZYg8OR

The first volume group is my old hard drive and i've tried using mount -U with its uuid, but when I do that I see this message:

mount -U uuid=lK0gIz-mS5Y-sb2T-NRt2-ZOlh-jilt-ZYg8OR /mnt/tempsdd
mount: no such partition found

Is the fact that both volumes are called volgroup00 causing me to not be able to access the old one? If so, is there an easy way to rename the old one?

thanks,
Ed

leigh123,

Thanks so much for your reply...I actually stumbled onto another thread that was extremely helpful to me in what I wanted to do. Here it is in case you'd like to put it into your bag o'tricks:
