View Full Version : Can't get the updates, yum not working! Please help

I'm new to linux, just managed to install core 8.
Received the following error message.
please help.

[root@localhost ~]# yum -y install yum-priorities.conf
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=fedora-8&arch=i386 error was
[Errno 14] HTTP Error 403: Forbidden
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again

Try yum -y install yum-priorities

I tried, again this apeared!

[root@localhost ~]# yum -y install yum-priorities

Try yum clean all and then yum install yum-priorities

i tried

[root@localhost ~]# yum -y install yum-priorities

[root@localhost ~]# yum clean all

Cleaning up Everything
[root@localhost ~]# yum install yum-priorities
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit

still have the same error. any ideas?

Try

yum clean all
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
rpm --rebuilddb
yum install yum-priorities
