I am finally replacing my GeForce 6600 GT with a GeForce 8800GTS. I have the nVidia drivers already installed and running correctly on a dual head set-up. Is there anything I should do before I install(data is already backed up)? Will I be able to just drop in the new card?

Should just be able to swap the cards and the xorg.conf should work. That would be the only thing i would see backed up is /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Only other thing is if kudzu util is still present. I would issue this command to disable if present as root.
/sbin/chkconfig --level 345 kudzu off
Do this before shutting down and rebooting.

Thanks. Disabling Kudzu did not occur to me.

As far as backing up xorg.conf, after long and frustrating experince I keep back ups of several versions.
