View Full Version : kmod-fglrx driver problem

I'm using Fedora Core 8. I've installed the kmod-fglrx driver for my ATI graphix card, but this has been causing some problems for me. After using my PC for a while, I get two black/grey stripes in the lower-left corner. One is directly on top of the desktop switcher, the other about 2cm above it.
I've tried taking a screenshot, but the stripes don't show up on there. I'm also sure that they aren't dead pixels, since I don't always have these things here (they come after a while), and I don't get them at all on WindowsXP.
I uninstalled the driver, and the problem was gone, but I couldn't watch any video anymore, so I reinstalled it, but the problem just came back.

Does anyone know how to solve this??
Thanks

Wait for the new driver !!

ATI released fglrx 8.1

Resolved Issues

The following section provide a brief description of resolved issues with the latest version of the ATI Catalyst™ Linux software suite. These include:

* Corruption will no longer be noticed in the lower right corner of the display or on the mouse pointer after the system is running for a long period of time
* Connecting a display device that supports 1680x1050 to a system running Linux will no longer result in a maximum display resolution of 1280x1024 only being available
* Custom mode lines in xorg.conf will no longer be ignored by the fglrx driver
* Suspending to RAM or DISK on kernel version 2.6.23 or later no longer fails
