Try

su
yum install yum-utils
yumdownloader --disablerepo=updates kernel-headers kernel-devel

or if you want to install them

su
yum --disablerepo=updates install kernel-headers kernel-devel

your gonna need to know exactly why kernel u have ( uname -r ) if my memory serves me.

Then your gonna have to go hunting round google for um.

using the yum install kernel-devel etc is teh best way as it should install the correct versions.

hi
please read my signature there is no point in my doing a 'yum'

All I'm trying to do is compile a driver for attansic l2 nic - so I can use yum

I've got the kernel-headers and -devel from where the second poster on this thread suggested

I've got problems installing gcc ..can't create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/_db_000

Make sure you are root , and disable this service as it could also cause this problem

( don't forget the dash )

su -
service yum-updatesd stop
chkconfig --level 345 yum-updatesd off
