I have both a usb logitech headset and SB card in my PC but I mainly use the headset.

When I run an applications such as games and rhythmbox I have to go to the Pulse audio controls in Applications-> Sound and Video and check the usb device as default for the audio stream every time as it defaults to the sound card. I would have expected it to stay default at usb once I checked it.
How do I make it permanent?

You might try their method here: PulseAudo Wiki (http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup) if you're using ALSA.

I just bought some Logech V20 USB speakers and had the same problem trying to Rhythmbox to default to new speakers rather than the Internal sound speakers in my IBM T42 notebook.

I set them to be he default without luck getting the sound out of them.

Then, after a couples hours of Googling, I figured out that all you had to do was go to Sound & Video --> Pulse Audio Volume Control in the first Playback tab, right-mouse-click on the Rhythmbox stream and switch it to the USB speakers. Duh! From then on Rhythmbox defaulted to the USB speakers.

BTW, the speakers sound great! i really love last.fm.
