If you need to use ICQ, MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, and other protocols for chatting, why not just use pidgin?

su
yum install pidgin

There's also Kopete. Both pidgin and kopete are multi-protocol chat clients with nice, intuitive GUIs for adding all your accounts and managing them from a single program.

Or are you specifically looking for console-based messaging programs? I assume you're not if you're "not very experienced in things like terminal" - ysm as far as I know is console based so it should be launched from the command line.
